Cable processing and testing procedures

Feb. 20, 2025

What are the steps of cable processing?

1. Wire cutting: According to the design drawings, the length, color, wire, wire core, wire diameter of different specifications of the wire are cut, stripped, tied.

2. Crimping or welding: The process of connecting wires and terminals together requires the use of crimping and welding equipment for processing.

3.Test: The first mechanical and electrical performance test is carried out after wire harness processing

4. Assembly: Assemble the tested wiring harness according to the process and injection molding.

5. Test: The second mechanical and electrical performance test is carried out after the wiring harness is assembled.

6. Inspection: Remove the raw edge of the injection molding and test the appearance of the product.

7. Packaging: The qualified wiring harness will be packed and sealed and the packaging specifications confirmed for delivery.

Cable processing and testing procedures

Each step needs to be self-tested, only after the self-test can be carried out the next process, the process needs to be monitored at any time.

How many steps does the cable test?

1. Insulation resistance test: Measure the insulation resistance of a cable to test its insulation performance. When testing, it is necessary to select the appropriate voltage and test time according to the product standards and relevant regulations, and use a special insulation resistance tester to measure. The measurement results can reflect the insulation performance of the cable, as well as the product's ability to withstand electrical or thermal breakdown and loss resistance in working conditions.

2.Contact impedance test: Use a contact resistance tester to calculate the contact resistance by applying a current in the circuit and measuring the voltage. During the test, the tester provides accurate test results and records and analyzes the data.

3. Voltage test: Apply a certain voltage to the cable to check whether it meets the standard requirements. When testing, it is necessary to select the appropriate voltage and test time according to the product standards and relevant regulations.

3.High temperature test: Place cables in a high temperature environment and expose them to high temperature conditions to test their performance specifications. When testing, it is necessary to select the appropriate temperature and test time according to product standards and relevant regulations, and use a special high and low temperature test chamber for testing.
