PCB board main material

Printed circuit boards (PCBS) are divided into three categories according to the number of layers: single layer board, double layer board and multilayer board. According to their properties, printed circuit boards can be divided into two categories: rigid printed circuit boards (PCB) and flexible printed circuit boards (FPCB).

1.1 Single-layer PCB

A single layer board is a circuit board with one sheet of copper and the other side not covered with copper.

1.2 Double-layer PCB

Dual panel is a double - sided copper-covered circuit board. The two surfaces covered with copper are called the top layer and the bottom layer.

1.3 Multi-layer PCB

A multilayer circuit board is a circuit board with multiple working layers. The circuit board has a middle layer, a top layer and a bottom layer. The intermediate layer can be composed of conductor layer, signal layer, power layer and connection layer.

Therefore, in general industrial production, raw materials mainly include copper coated plate, copper foil, semi-cured plate, dry film, ink, anode (copper, tin, nickel) and so on. PCB materials for circuit boards generally use epoxy resin glass insulation materials. Designers often use insulated cardboard to keep costs down and cover the board with copper, known as PCB board.

Materials used on and off PCBS include screen printing, solder, copper and substrate. The final layer is fiberglass, called FR4.

In general, only thickness can be varied according to the purpose of the board. On a limited budget, some boards are made of phenolic or epoxy resin. Because of their thermal sensitivity, these plates tend to lose lamination. By contrast, they can also save a lot of money. Generally speaking, the quality of the plate is distinguished by the smell produced by welding.
